The NBA is expecting to return to playing games in China, according to Adam Silver.
“I think we will bring games back to China at some point. China’s government took us off the air for a period of time. We accepted that. We stood by our values,” said Silver at a sports conference in New York.
In 2019, then-Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeted his support of protests in Hong Kong that lead to a backlash to the league by Chinese broadcasters.
Silver stated that the league suffered “dramatic” consequences from the controversy, with the NBA estimated to have lost hundreds of millions of dollars.
Chinese state broadcasters CCTV ended its 18-month blackout of the league in March 2022.
