After playing the first three seasons of his career outside of the Hoosier state, Indiana native Langdon Hatton will finish his college career in his home state.

A North Harrison product, the 6-foot-10, 247-pound big man began his career at William & Mary. After a freshman season where he averaged 4.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 14.7 minutes, Hatton transferred to Bellarmine, about 30 minutes from his home in Georgetown, Indiana.

As a sophomore for the Knights, Hatton primarily came off the bench. In 33 games, he averaged 3.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.9 minutes while shooting 58 percent for a team that finished 15-18.

Hatton’s role grew substantially as a junior at Bellarmine. He started all 31 games under Scott Davenport and averaged 10.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.8 blocks in 27.9 minutes. Hatton shot a team-best 48 percent from the field, 33.3 percent on 3s and 67.5 percent from the free-throw line.

For his work in the classroom, Hatton was named to the Academic All-Atlantic Sun team and the CSC academic All-district team.

“At first, it was kind of, I guess scary honestly,” Hatton said. “I thought I could play at the highest level but until you enter the portal and teams reach out, you really have no clue what’s going to happen. So it was just kind of relieving and teams like Indiana and of this caliber just started reaching out.”

The Hoosiers quickly separated themselves in Hatton’s recruitment and he filled Indiana’s 12th scholarship on May 15.

“It was a super easy process,” he explained. “They didn’t have to convince me much. This was where I wanted to be.”
