Monty Williams is still processing getting fired by the Detroit Pistons and is not yet ready for another coaching role, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Williams had five years left on his deal with the Pistons.
“Monty Williams was blindsided today with his dismissal,” said Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski added that Williams could have played a role in the Lakers’ search if he were available earlier.
“I’m told that he is not ready to necessarily just jump right into another job … he wants to coach again, but I think it’s pretty raw today,” added Wojnarowski.
