Mark Cuban No Longer Retains Control Of Mavericks Basketball Operations

NBA Unanimously Approves Sale Of Mavericks To Adelson, Dumont Families

Mark Cuban no longer has control of basketball operations of the Dallas Mavericks, reports Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

Nico Harrison reports directly to new governor Patrick Dumont, who purchased the team from Cuban late in 2023. Dumont signed Harrison and Jason Kidd to contract extensions during the playoffs. 

When Cuban sold the Mavericks to the Dumont and Adelson family, he claimed he would have control over basketball operations “forevermore.” 

Cuban long had an unorthodox influence on player personnel decisions and the organizational flow chart is now far clearer and traditional with Harrison having the autonomy from Dumont to handle the roster.
