College basketball transfer portal 2024: Ranking top 80 players as Cam Christie highlights deadline entries

College basketball transfer portal 2024: Ranking top 80 players as Coleman Hawkins, JT Toppin enter market

The deadline for players to enter the transfer portal and be eligible next season passed Wednesday night, bringing an end to a six-week period of chaos in college basketball. A few big-name talents made their way on to the market in the hours leading up to the moment when the portal closed as 11:59 p.m. on the east coast turned to midnight.

None were bigger than all-Big Ten freshman Cam Christie. The 6-foot-6 Minnesota freshman is reportedly focused on the NBA Draft process, but his entry to the portal suggests that he will suit up for a new school next season if he opts for a return to college basketball. With three seasons of eligibility remaining, Christie would be highly sought. He comes in at No. 45 in our updated rankings.Β

Other prominent portal entries on deadline day included Arkansas forward Trevon Brazilie and Samford big man Achor Achor. Both players have the size and tools to attract significant attention. However, like Christie, they are each navigated the NBA pre-draft process.

So long as players entered the portal by the May 1 deadline, they will have ample time to choose their new school ahead of the 2024-25 season. Those who are exploring the NBA Draft process have through May 29 to withdraw if they want to return to college next season.
