Women's Basketball Welcomes Transfer JoJo Lacey

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers women’s basketball head coach Coquese Washington has announced the signing of graduate transfer JoJo Lacey. The Douglassville, Pennsylvania product will join the Scarlet Knights from Boston College for her last season of eligibility.

“I’ve known Jojo Lacey since she was a high school star, and I am thrilled that she is joining us here at Rutgers. She is an athletic and versatile wing who will play multiple positions for us. Jojo competes hard on both ends of the floor and isn’t afraid to play physical basketball. In addition, Jojo brings experience to our locker room which is a big plus. I’m really excited about adding Jojo to our program as I’m confident she will make a positive impact in many ways.”

During her senior season, Lacey averaged 8.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. She reached 10+ points in nine outings including two games with 20+ and a career-high 23-point performance against North Carolina (Feb. 29).

As a junior, she started all 33 games of the season, averaging career bests across the board. She led the team with 51 three-pointers and finished second with 2.1 assists per game (2.1) and third with 10.0 points per game.

She reached double figures in 14 games, including two contests with over 20 points. Her 8.3 points per game increase in scoring was the second highest in the ACC. With 16 points and 10 rebounds against Miami (Jan. 26, 2023), she registered her first career double-double.

Lacey helped the Golden Eagles advance to the second round of the ACC Tournament three of her four years. She also guided her team to the WNIT Sweet 16 to conclude her sophomore campaign.

Before her time in Chestnut Hill, Lacey was a member of the Philadelphia Belles 17U and helped her team to the 2019 Indianapolis section of the EYBL Championship. A five-star recruit in the class of 2020, she was ranked 39th  in the country by The Blue Star Basketball Report and sixth in her position by ESPN.

She was the captain of her team at Westtown High School, averaging 12.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.2 steals as a senior. Lacey led Westtown to its first Friends League Championship in 23 years and was named to the All-State First Team in Class 2A.
