As they continue a late postseason push in the Western Conference, the Houston Rockets are currently the NBA’s hottest team in March, having won 11 straight games and 13 of 14, overall. They remain one game back of Golden State (39-34) for the final spot.
But Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the star-studded Dallas Mavericks might be the second-hottest team, having won six consecutive games and 10 of 11 as they work to secure a top-six seed while avoiding having to go through the West’s play-in tournament.
On Sunday, the longtime Texas rivals will meet at Toyota Center in Houston, where the Rockets are a remarkable 26-11 this season. The matchup could mark the return of promising rookie Cam Whitmore (right knee sprain) to Houston’s rotation, as well.
It’s the first of two Rockets-Mavericks meetings over the next week, with Houston paying a return visit to Dallas next Sunday, April 7.
