USC makes history at Galen Center, wins NCAA Tournament opener

History was made on Saturday afternoon in the Galen Center. JuJu Watkins broke Cheryl Miller’s all-time single-season USC women’s basketball scoring record, passing Miller’s mark of 814 points. The Trojans beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to advance to the second round of the Women’s NCAA Tournament in what was the first USC women’s basketball March Madness game played in the Galen Center, a building almost two decades old. Galen will host a lot more NCAA Tournament games in the coming years, given how well and fully USC has built its women’s basketball program under Lindsay Gottlieb and Beth Burns.
