The Nebraska Cornhuskers will face a familiar opponent in the NCAA Tournament‘s Round of 64. The No. 8 seeded Huskers will face Texas A&M, the No. 9 seed, on Friday in Memphis, Tennessee.
Nebraska will be making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2014. The Huskers are also looking for their first victory in March Madness as they are 0-7 all-time.
This is head coach Fred Hoiberg’s first appearance in the tournament since becoming the head coach. He is 4-4 all-time with one Sweet Sixteen appearance.
The matchup with Texas A&M also has a compelling storyline off the court. It was on Wednesday that athletic director Trev Alberts resigned from his position at Nebraska to take the same post with the Aggies.
Texas A&M has a 20-14 record on the season. On Saturday, they lost to Florida in the SEC semifinals.
Nebraska leads the all-time series with the Aggies, 12-8. The two teams have not played one another since the 2010-11 season.
