SEC Power Rankings after Week 16 of the college basketball season.

After four months of the long grind that is the SEC basketball schedule, we are finally approaching the most important month of the college basketball season.

With only two weeks left of regular season play, the regular season SEC Championship is still very much up for grabs with four teams in serious contention.

Although the regular season championship is a massive accomplishment and every team in the league would be thrilled to capture one, the bigger goal is becoming more and more immediate by the day.

The majority of the SEC will end up in the โ€œField of 68โ€ on Selection Sunday, but there is a clear gap between the pretenders and contenders to make it to the Final 4 in Phoenix.

Here is where each SEC program ranks ahead of the final two weeks of the regular season.

In the last power rankings I said Missouri was too talented to go winless in the SEC. Itโ€™s beginning to look like the Tigers are going winless in the SEC.

The Tigers fall off just goes to show how difficult it is to be consistently great in the SEC. Weโ€™ll see if Sean East II can lead his team to a win or two in the SEC tournament.

Vanderbilt head coach Jerry Stackhouse should donate a check to the Missouri Tigers Athletic Department because without them his team would be staring another last place SEC finish dead in the face.

Instead, Vanderbilt is most likely safe to finish as the second worst team in the conference.

Regular Season: 15-12

Iโ€™ve said it before and Iโ€™ll say it again. Noah Thomasson, Jabri Abdur-Rahim, and the Georgia Bulldogs are good enough to hang around in the SEC but lack the talent to win tough games.

The Bulldogs loss to Auburn at home was a direct indication of that.

They hung around but when the going got tough Johni Broome and Auburn got going, whereas the Bulldogs showed some bark but lacked the bite.
