JAGUARS FALL TO MASTODONS IN FINAL HOME CONTEST

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women’s basketball team fell in their final home contest against Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, February 24, 68-55. Junior Katie Davidson led all scorers with 21 points.
 
The Jags started off fast with Jazmyn Turner scoring the first four points of the game, giving IUPUI a fast 4-0 lead. The Mastodons countered with a 13-0 run to take the 13-4 lead. The Jags closed out the first quarter with nine points while the Mastodons scored five to hold the lead at 18-13.
 
Davidson scored 10 points in the second quarter to keep the Jags in the game at 33-27. IUPUI’s scoring slipped in the third quarter with the Mastodons outscoring the Jags 20-11 to take a 53-38.
 
Despite IUPUI shooting 50.0 percent in the final quarter, the Jags couldn’t overcome the deficit and fell with a final score of 68-55.
 
The Jaguars held Purdue Fort Wayne to just 29.4 percent from three but IUPUI’s turnovers proved costly as the Jags turned the ball over 22 times compared to the Mastodons 14.
 
Davidson led the offense with 21 points shooting 7-for-15 from the field with one rebound. Jazmyn Turner followed with 14 points and eight rebounds while freshman Alexa Hocevar totaled eight rebounds.
 
IUPUI will now finish out the regular season on the road with stops at Detroit Mercy on Thursday, February 29 and Oakland on March 2.
