Men’s Basketball to host MAC Commonwealth Semifinal against Eastern

FREDERICK, Md. – Hood men’s basketball earned the No. 2 seed in the MAC Commonwealth tournament and will host the No. 3 seed in the Eastern University Eagles on Wednesday, February 21 with a 7 p.m. tip-off.

The season series between the Blazers and Eagles is split at one game a piece.

On January 13, Hood beat Eastern at home 71-68 where Kullen Robinson (Alexandria, Va./Alexandria City) led the Blazers with 24 points while Justin Gielen (Edgewater, Md./DeMatha) had a big defensive stop and two made free throws to seal the win.

On February 10, Eastern took the rematch in St. David’s 93-84 where Garrison Linton (New Market, Md./Oakdale) finished with the school’s second triple-double in school history. This was outmatched by the Eagles’ Jaron Fairweather who scored 39 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Now the series returns to Frederick to determine who moves on to the championship game.

The winner of this game will take on the winner of No. 4 Alvernia vs. No. 1 Widener. The MAC Championships will be on Saturday, Feb. 24. Location will be at the higher seed. If Hood wins, and Widener loses, the Championship will take place in Blazer Arena. Otherwise, the highest-seeded team will host.
