Kansas City, Mo. – The University of Missouri men’s basketball team fell to Seton Hall, 93-87, on Sunday night at T-Mobile Center (Kansas City, Mo.). Mizzou drops to 7-4, while Seton Hall moves 7-4.
Junior Tamar Bates matched his career high with 22 points – making 7-of-12 field goals and all four of his three-point attempts. Graduate Sean East II chipped in 16 points and six assists, while classmate Nick Honor also scored in double figures with 14 points.
In opening the minutes of the second-ever meeting between the programs, both teams traded baskets, as Mizzou knocked down three straight from beyond the arc to bring the score to 16-16.
Seton Hall, however, would catch fire and used a 16-3 run to pull in front by seven, 26-19. In the later stages of the half, the Tigers would chip away at the Pirates lead, nailing all six shots from the charity stripe down the stretch to cut the Seton Hall advantage to four, 42-38.
The Pirates would come out strong to begin the second half, outscoring the Tigers, 21-6, over the first eight minutes to extend their lead to 63-44. However, Mizzou would respond and start to chip away at the Seton Hall advantage. Sean East and Tamar Bates each would hit a triple to spark 7-0 and 14-1 runs that would cut the deficit to six points, 76-70, with over three minutes remaining in regulation.
