Denver’s Hunter Tyson has career night

Former Clemson forward Hunter Tyson had a career night in the G League on Saturday night.

Playing for the Denver Nuggets’ G League team, Tyson scored a career-high 33 points on 10 for 17 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Grand Rapids Gold’s 121-83 win over the Wisconsin Herd.

In his final season at Clemson, Tyson led the team in scoring with a career-high 15.3 points per game on 47.9% shooting from the field and 40.5% from beyond the arc. His ascension as a fifth-year senior prompted the Nuggets to draft him at pick No. 37 in the 2023 NBA draft in June.

Although he has only played 20 total minutes in the NBA, Tyson’s performance in the G League is a good sign that he could stay in the league for years, possibly helping Denver win back-to-back championships this season.
