LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Esmery Martinez had a double-double and Kailyn Gilbert posted her sixth double-digit scoring performance of the season, but Arizona fell to RV UNLV 53-72 on Saturday.

Gilbert was the squad’s leading scorer with 21 for her second game this season with at least 20 points while Martinez led the Cats in rebounds with 11. Martinez scored 14 points to secure the double-double.

Coming out of halftime, Arizona shot 4-of-5 from the floor with Martinez, Nnaji and Kailyn Gilbert getting buckets. Martinez entered double digits with the first score of the half for her fifth game this season with at least 10 points.

The Wildcats scored 18 points in the third quarter on 57.1% shooting but were unable to overcome the deficit.

Breya Cunningham made two blocks to extend her streak of games with at least one block to five straight, and with two steals Martinez kept up a streak of making at least one in every game this season.

Arizona returns to action Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. MST as it welcomes UC San Diego to McKale Center.
