MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women’s basketball team (5-2, 0-0 B1G) is set to play another game at home as they take on Butler (5-2, 0-0 Big East) on Sunday, Dec. 3 inside the Kohl Center. Tip off will be at 12 p.m. and the game can be streamed on B1G+ or listened to on 1070 WTSO-AM.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers matchup against the Bulldogs.
1. DOUBLE-DIGIT DOMINATORS: In the previous game versus Northern Illinois, five Wisconsin players scored in double digits. These included Serah Williams (16), D’Yanis Jimenez (13), Sania Copeland (11), Natalie Leuzinger (10) and Ronnie Porter (10). It is the first time this season that this many Badgers scored in double digits, and Wisconsin is now 3-0 this season when four or more Badgers score 10+ points in a game.
2. B1G BLOCKER: With four blocks against Northern Illinois, Williams now leads the Big Ten with 20 total blocks. The sophomore previously led the Big Ten in the 2022-23 season with 58 blocks and an average of 1.9 blocks per game. Through seven games this season, Williams is averaging 2.9 blocks per game, putting her at 11th in the NCAA. The sophomore has now led the Badgers in blocks in 31 of her 38 career games.
3. PRODUCING PERFECTION: In the game against the Huskies, Jimenez scored 13 points and shot a perfect 100% on the night (4-4 FG, 3-3 3FG, 2-2 FT). As a freshman, Jimenez leads the Badgers in three-point shooting at 63.6%, and is third in free-throw shooting at 81.0%. With an average of 11.0 points per game, Jimenez is tied with Ronnie Porter for second on the team in field-goal percentage.
4. NEARING B1G PLAY: While Butler will not be the last non-conference opponent Wisconsin faces this season, it is the game that precedes UW’s first Big Ten Conference game of the season against Iowa on Sunday, Dec. 3. After eight games so far, Iowa has a 7-1 record, with just one loss to Kansas State at home on Nov. 16. The Hawkeyes are led in scoring by Caitlyn Clark, who is averaging 29.6 points per game. This will be the second-consecutive season that Wisconsin welcomes Iowa in its first conference game of the season.
5. SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Wisconsin will play Butler for the third time in the last 13 seasons, and for the first time since Dec. 8, 2017. The Badgers have taken two of the last three games going back to the 2010-11…
