Auburn takes down Virginia Tech in ACC-SEC Challenge

The Auburn Tigers have improved to 5-1 on the young basketball season after another beatdown of an inferior team.

The Tigers pounced on the Virginia Tech Hokies early Wednesday Night at Neville Arena, jumping out to a quick 11-2 lead before eventually winning the game 74-57.

Forward Johni Broome was fantastic against a sub-par Hokies frontcourt, amassing 30 points for the first time in an Auburn uniform.

Chad Baker-Mazara (15/4/3) and Tre Donaldson (9/2/3) added solid contributions off the bench to lead the way to Bruce Pearl’s offense.

Auburn’s defense once again held its opponent to under 30% from the field, as Virginia Tech shot just 27% on its way to 57 points.

Wednesday marked the fourth game in a row the Tigers have held their opponent to under 60 points, which is the longest such streak since the 2007-2008 season.
