The Brooklyn Nets have had a solid start to this season as they are 8-8 despite facing numerous injuries and tough opponents at the outset. The good thing is that one of the players on the team are being recognized for how much he has done for the team to this point.
The NBA announced on Monday that Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie was one of the nominees for Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Week 5 of the season, specifically from Nov. 20 to Nov. 26. The award for the Eastern Conference was ultimately given to Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero as he and the Magic have been playing lights out lately.
According to Basketball Reference, Dinwiddie has been incredible in that time span. Dinwiddie, in three games, averaged 21.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 10.0 assists per game while shooting 40.8% from the field and 33.3% from three-point land.
Those numbers include performances of 26 points and 12 assists against the Atlanta Hawks and 14 points with 11 assists against the Miami Heat. Dinwiddie has been big for the Nets ever since Ben Simmons and Cam Thomas were ruled out with their respective injuries.
