Basketball Australia wishes to congratulate Lorraine Landon OAM on being awarded the prestigious FIBA Member of Honour Award.
After a successful playing career, Landon shifted her focus to administration. She started with her local Bankstown club and eventually progressed to national roles with the Sydney Kings and Flames, becoming the first woman to manage both the male and female national competitions.
Landon was responsible for managing women’s basketball teams during the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. Additionally, she served as the competition manager for basketball, wheelchair and disability basketball, and rugby during Sydney 2000.

For 30 years, Landon has been involved in various national and international basketball organizations, including serving as the vice president of the FIBA women’s commission and the only female board member of Basketball NSW. She also held the position of General Manager, Teams and Competition for Basketball Australia.
The Member of Honour Award is presented to an individual whose service to Basketball has been deemed exemplary over a ten-year period.
