Nets’ Mikal Bridges reacts to ‘unfortunate’ Game 4 loss to the 76ers

NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets guard Mikal Bridges talked more than usual after a loss. However, it wasn’t just any loss as his Nets lost Game 4 on Saturday to the Philadelphia 76ers 96-88, ending their 2022-2023 season. Bridges, along with his teammates, played hard, but just weren’t able to string together anything worthwhile on the offensive end to steal a game and extend their series against Philadelphia.

“I felt we had some looks, we just missed them,” Bridges said after scoring 17 points in Game 4. Despite Philadelphia missing their superstar center Joel Embiid, Brooklyn shot just 41.2% from the field and 24.3% from three-point land. The Nets shot 14-of-20 inside the restricted area (70%, league average is 66.6%), but they shot 1/10 from both corners, which seemed to play a huge role in Philadelphia being able to scheme their defense to force Brooklyn into the corners to get their three-point shots.

“I think just how we’re generating them (Brooklyn’s shots). That’s me included. Just having the ball in my hands and just try to find that mix of being aggressive to score and being aggressive to kick as well,” Bridges continued. Brooklyn has now lost their last 10 postseason games and haven’t won a playoff since June 15th, 2021 when they beat the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 5 of that Eastern Conference Semi-Final series. “I mean, it sucks. Everybody works on their game, everybody works on their shots. It’s just, nobody out there trying to miss, everybody trying to make them. It’s just so unfortunate sometimes.”
