Mikal Bridges scores 44 as Magic beat Nets 119-106

The Brooklyn Nets visited Amway Center on Sunday to face the Orlando Magic for the second of three matchups this season and lost 119-106. The regular-season series is now tied at 1-1.

For the Nets, Mikal Bridges had 44 points and six rebounds while Cam Thomas had 18 points and two assists. Cam Johnson had 10 points and Nic Claxton had nine points.

For the Magic, Cole Anthony had 21 points and six rebounds off the bench while Franz Wagner had 19 points and 10 rebounds. Wendell Carter Jr. had 18 points and Jalen Suggs had 16 points.

In the first half, Mikal Bridges scored 19 points in the first quarter for the Nets. Bridges was on fire as he couldn’t miss from any area on the court. The Magic had more of a balanced attacked as they were racking up assists within their offensive flow. Orlando broke the game open in the second quarter as they started getting out in transition by creating turnovers.

In the second half, it was more of the same. At one point in the third quarter, Brooklyn was able to get the score to within five points with 8:05 left in the period. However, after that, the Nets were able to get any closer as the Magic continued to get out in transition to score on the fastbreak. It looked like a game where Orlando was just more rested and motivated than Brooklyn.

Dinwiddie had a miserable game shooting the ball. He could not buy a bucket from anywhere but the free-throw line as it looked like he was too tired to make any quick moves off the dribble. He did a good job passing the ball, but other than that, Dinwiddie was nowhere to be found in this game and Brooklyn could have used his scoring.

Bridges did a great job of shooting the ball in this one. He had 19 points in the first quarter as he was on fire from the opening tipoff and didn’t look back. Bridges was scoring from all over the court and he was even getting to the free-throw line with regularity. He did a good job of helping out on the boards and his defense was solid. He was one of the few bright spots for the Nets in this contest.

Johnson had an okay game shooting the ball in this contest. He could not buy a bucket from three-point range, but he was able to get some nice drives to the rim and finish through contact. Other than that, Johnson did not do much else in this game. His defense was not solid in this one, and while the rest of the team struggled on defense as well,…
