The Auburn Tigers ended the 2022-23 season with a loss in the NCAA Tournament, falling to Houston in the round of 32. As the program begins to transition to the offseason, Auburn Wire will take time to reflect on the season that was by highlighting the accomplishments of this year’s team.
Sophomore forward Johni Broome is our next year-in-review spotlight player.
After a big 2021-22 season that saw Broome earn the title of Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, he decided to take his talents to a bigger program and ended up at Auburn.
Broome made an immediate impact, starting every game for the Tigers this season. He averaged 14.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
Broome’s season-high game for points was when he scored 21 in Auburn’s 81-66 win against the South Carolina Gamecocks on in January. He also had 18 rebounds in Auburn’s 94-73 win over the Georgia Bulldogs in February.
