ATLANTA, Ga. – Washington women’s basketball 2023 signee Sayvia Sellers has been named to the 2023 Jersey Mike’s Naismith High School Girls All-America Team as an Honorable Mention.

Only 30 girls were named to the All-America Teams, and Sellers was one of just 15 receiving Honorable Mention recognition. Washington is one of four Pac-12 schools represented on the All-America Teams.

“We are thrilled to honor these tremendously talented student-athletes with a spot on the 2023 Jersey Mike’s Naismith National High School All-America Teams,” executive director of the Atlanta Tipoff Club Eric Oberman said. “The recognition is validation of hard work, amazing talent and dedication to the game of basketball at a level that sets them apart from the rest.”

Sellers signed a National Letter of Intent with Washington on November 9. On November 15, Sellers and fellow signee Ari Long were two of the 50 girls named to the Naismith High School Girls Trophy Watch List. On January 11, Sellers was one of 25 girls named to the Naismith High School Girls Midseason Team. Also on January 11, Sellers was named a 2023 McDonald’s All American nominee, along with fellow signees Chloe Briggs and Long.

Sellers, a 5-7 point guard from Anchorage, Alaska (Anchorage Christian High School), was the highest-rated signee (No. 28) in Washington’s class, according to the ESPNW Top 100 rankings.

“Sayvia is one of the best playmaking point guards in the country,” head coach Tina Langley said on National Signing Day. “She has a toughness and love for the game that embodies our team culture and makes everyone around her better. Sayvia is an elite scorer at three levels, has excellent court vision, and is a tenacious defender. She is a selfless leader on and off the court. She is loved by everyone in her community and excels at including and elevating others in her pursuit of greatness.”

ESPN.com described Sellers as a player who “creates a buzz every time she ventures into the contiguous states to hoop. She is dynamic off the bounce and has a variety of finishing skills in and around the paint. She keeps defenses on their toes as she can catch fire from 3-point land.”
