Highlanders Go Toe to Toe with CSUN

RIVERSIDE, Calif.  – UC Riverside and CSUN matched each other stride for stride all afternoon at the SRC Arena, but the Highlanders were unable to pull through with a 48-44 defeat to CSUN. 

The Highlanders made their living inside early with 14 of their first 17 points in the paint, pressing on to take a 25-20 halftime lead, led by nine points from Jordan Webster. UCR closed the half on a 6-1 run while forcing nine Matador turnovers. 

Webster put up a game-high 14 points on Monday – half of which came from the free throw line – to go along with seven rebounds and a steal. Matehya Bryant also toed with a double double in her second double digit game in as many meetings with the Matadors, going for 10 points, seven rebounds, a block and a steal. 

Webster’s recent free throw streak now improves to 29 straight, while RyAnne Walters continued to impress with her sixth game this season with at least three steals.

UC Riverside will keep it in the Inland Empire on Thursday with a 6:00 p.m. tipoff against Hawaii on ESPN+.
