Badgers complete Border Battle sweep with OT win at Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – For the first time since the 2010-11 season, the Wisconsin women’s basketball team swept Minnesota in the Border Battle series, taking a 76-70 overtime decision Saturday afternoon at Williams Arena.

Julie Pospisilova went for 22 points while Brooke Shramek followed with a 20-point outing. Maty Wilke added in 11 points and Sania Copeland played a key 30 minutes off the bench.

Schramek carried the Badgers in the first quarter and established a presence in the post, chipping in eight points to push out a 19-17 lead. wisconsin slumped offensively in the second quarter as Minnesota edged out a 35-34 advantage at the break.

Maty Wilke hit a 3-pointer with 43 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 63-all. Minnesota converted on a pair of chance from the charity stripe to pull back in front until Pospisilova drove through the lane for game-tying layup with 30 seconds left to force extra time.

From there, Wilke opened the frame with another 3-pointer, Schramek went for two at the free throw line, and Pospisilova went for another driving layup to give Wisconsin all the momentum, and from there the Badgers closed out the game.

Wisconsin will remain on the road as it visits Iowa on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
