THE FLATS – Lance Terry tipped in a missed jumper by Kyle Sturdivant at the final horn to power Georgia Tech men’s basketball past Notre Dame, 70-68, on Wednesday night at McCamish Pavilion.
The Yellow Jackets (9-15, 2-12 ACC) battled in the second half to keep the game close, even after the Fighting Irish (10-14, 2-11 ACC) pulled out to a six-point lead.
Then, with 3:32 left in the game, down two, Deebo Coleman was fouled on a three-point shot from the left wing. Coleman converted all three free throws to give Tech back the lead, 65-64.
Ja’von Franklin then piled on the pressure by completing an and-1 on the ensuing possession to push Tech’s lead to three with just under three minutes to go. Notre Dame fought back to tie the game up at 68 on free throws with 1:55 left.
Terry led the Jackets’ with 19 points on the night, playing all 40 minutes for the second time this season, while Franklin finished with 16 points and nine rebounds. Sturdivant and Coleman also finished in double figures with 12 and 11, respectively.
Deivon Smith gave Tech a big lift with eight points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Leading the Irish was Nate Laszewski, who finished with 16 points.

Georgia Tech heads back out on the road before two-straight home games when it travels to Wake Forest on Saturday, Feb. 11. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ACC Network.
