A key area that Arkansas has struggled in since SEC play began has been scoring off of turnovers and getting points in transition. The Razorbacks excelled in this area in the non-conference and are at their best when they can get out and run, creating easy offense.
Against Kentucky, we saw a vintage Arkansas basketball performance when it comes to those areas of the game. Arkansas outscored the Wildcats 23-10 in points off turnovers and won the turnover battle altogether, forcing 15 Kentucky turnovers while only having 11 of their own. They also outscored Kentucky when it comes to fast break points, 20-10.
“We haven’t even reached our peak,” said Devo Davis after the game. “We’re just now getting better. We’re just now getting to the level that y’all as the outsiders and our fans and everyone that expected us to be good, I think we’re reaching that now.”
If this Arkansas team is truly turning a page and can string together similar performances to what we saw Lexington on Tuesday night, the SEC and all of college basketball should be put on notice.
