WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO WRIGHT STATE ON SATURDAY


DAYTON, Ohio – The IUPUI women’s basketball team will look to bounce back from their loss at Green Bay when they travel to Dayton, Ohio to face the Wright State Raiders on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM at the Nutter Center.
 
Destiny Perkins sits at 945 total career points and is making her way to joining the 1,000 point club. She would join senior Rachel Kent as Kent hit her 1,000 point mark earlier this season and now has a total of 1,172 career points.
 
Senior Jazmyn Turner was named #HLWBB Player of the Week in the first week of 2023 after averaging 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in the two IUPUI wins. The forward has consistently led the Jaguar offense, averaging 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game this season. Three Jags including Turner rank in the top ten in scoring in the Horizon League with Turner coming in at fourth (15.1), Perkins at fifth (13.5) and Kent holding the ninth spot (12.5).
 
IUPUI has found success beyond the arc setting a Horizon League and IUPUI record with 17 three-point field goals in its 85-72 win over Northern Illinois. The Jags hold the league’s second-best percentage from long range with a 34.8 percent, averaging 8.5 threes per game. Rachel Kent and Destiny Perkins pace the way with 43 and 41 made threes. Kent holds a 41.0 percent (43-for-105) from behind the arc while Perkins follows with a 33.9 percent (41-for-121).
 
The reigning Horizon League Champions were picked to finish sixth in the #HLWBB preseason poll and Rachel Kent was pegged #HLWBB second team. IUPUI currently sits in fourth in the Horizon League standings.
 
Wright State enters the weekend 4-19 overall and 3-10 in the Horizon League. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with a tipoff of 1:00 PM.
