Arkansas and Baylor may not be the most intriguing game of Saturday’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge, but it’s up there.
The Bears, a staple in the Top 25 for most of the four seasons, are, again, a threat in the Big 12, the nation’s best basketball conference.
The Razorbacks, on the other hand, a staple in the Top 25 for most of the last three seasons, were supposed to be the same in the SEC. It hasn’t panned out in 2022-23 yet.
The 3 p.m. tip from Waco won’t completely change either teams’ fortunes. In fact, Baylor doesn’t even need the victory. The Big 12 is so strong that simply continuing to play near the top of the league would be enough for a strong NCAA Tournament push.
Arkansas is just 3-5 in the SEC, though. And while Saturday isn’t a league game – which is ultimately what the Hogs need to clinch a spot in the postseason – the hole is large enough that any extra resume-building could pay huge dividends on Selection Sunday.
