It was a terrific weekend for USC Trojans’ basketball teams.
The men’s team beat Colorado on Thursday and then topped Utah on Saturday night.
However, the weekend was capped off by the women’s team stunning No. 2 Stanford in Los Angeles on Sunday, 55-46, to get a signature win.
Stanford had yet to lose a Pac-12 contest this year, or in any Pac-12 game since January of 2021. USC’s win gives head coach Lindsay Gottlieb another quality win on her resume and moves USC into the NCAA Tournament conversation.
Destiny Littleton led the way with 18 points and six assists, and the reactions came pouring in after a top-notch victory which was impressive for so many reasons. Gottlieb, in Year 2 of her tenure, is already delivering the kinds of results which point to increased and sustained success for USC women’s basketball in the coming years.
Keep in mind that Gottlieb has the No. 1 recruit in the country, Juju Watkins, coming to USC for next season.
This is only going to get better.
Let’s see how Twitter reacted to the game-changing win over Stanford:

No. 2 Stanford falls to USC. Stanford goes 2-13 from the floor in the final 4:55 (credit that USC defense + Stanford missing some bunnies they usually make).
That makes two top-5 wins for Lindsay Gottlieb in just her second season in LA.

Timber!🌲🪓#USC Women’s Basketball snaps #Stanford‘s 39-game PAC-12 win streak with a 55-46 victory over the Cardinal in the Galen Center! Before today, the Women of Troy hadn’t beaten Stanford since the 2014 PAC-12 tournament. pic.twitter.com/cCjad56t6m

For Stanford, the first loss to *that* USC wasn’t surprising, the loss to *this* USC is a stunner.

Stanford did not look good today at all, but the Cardinal are still clearly a No. 1 seed. No one behind them on the 2-line has a better resume to supplant the Cardinal. USC will be moving into the field.
