THE FLATS – Georgia Tech continues a four-game homestand and resumes Atlantic Coast Conference play after a nine-day holiday break when No. 13/12 Virginia comes to McCamish Pavilion for a noon contest on New Year’s Eve.

Tech (7-5, 0-2 ACC), facing back-to-back games against teams ranked in the nation’s top 25, is looking for its first ACC win of the 2022-23 season against the Cavaliers after falling by double digits at North Carolina (75-59) on Dec. 10 and at home to Clemson (79-66) in its last game on Dec. 21. The Yellow Jackets are 6-1 at home this season, with their only loss to the Tigers and their most significant win coming over Georgia (79-77) on Dec. 6.

Virginia (9-2, 1-1 ACC) lost its last two games before the Christmas break – a 69-61 decision at home to No. 3 Houston and lost 66-64 at No. 14 Miami on Dec. 20 – before defeating Albany at home Wednesday. That followed an 8-0 start which lifted the Cavaliers to No. 2 in the nation in the Associated Press poll. UVA defeated Florida State, 62-57, on Dec. 3 at home.

Saturday’s game will be televised live on the ACC Network, with a live stream available on the ESPN app. Radio coverage is on the Georgia Tech Sports Network by Legends Sports and flagship station 680 the Fan (680 AM/93.7 FM), and also on satellite radio (SiriusXM channel 381, SXM app 971.

THE TIP-OFF

  • Tech is in the midst of its longest homestand of the season (four games). The Yellow Jackets hosted Alabama State and Clemson in its last two games before the Christmas break, with No. 13/12 Virginia Saturday and No. 14/14 Miami on Jan. 4 before their next road game, Jan. 7 at Florida State.
  • Virginia and Miami are the first two AP/Coaches Top 25 teams the Yellow Jackets have faced this season.
