Texas A&M vs. Prairie View A&M

Head coach Buzz Williams notes deficiencies after the loss to Boise State

Texas A&M (7-5) faces Prairie View A&M (4-8) on Friday, Dec. 30th at Reed Arena after earning their seventh win on Tuesday, defeating Northwestern State 64-52. With one more non-conference game left on the schedule, the Aggies are in need of a momentum spark with SEC play just around the corner.

On paper, the Panthers are not an opponent to take lightly despite their record, led by senior guard and SMU transfer Will Douglas, who currently averages 15.0 ppg, and senior guard Jeremiah Gambrell, who averages 12.3 ppg. As a team, the Panthers are averaging about 70 ppg while shooting 40% from the floor, and only 28.5% from 3-Point. Coming into Friday’s game, Prairie View has lost six in a row after starting the season at 4-2, while the Aggies are 1-2 in their last three contests.

After bouncing back against Northwestern State, Aggie forward Henry Coleman III (24 points) and senior guard Tyrece Radford (21 points) rallied the team in the second half to outscore the Demons 36-19, and perhaps finally found a rhythm on defense, practically suffocating the Demons offensive sets towards the end of the game.

In order to future prepare for the Florida Gators on Wednesday, Jan. 4th, the Aggies need to perform at a faster, more efficient pace on offense in the first half and avoid playing from behind. The game will air on Friday night at 6:00 PM CT. and will stream on SEC Network +.
