CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – 2022 was a momentous year for Coe Athletics and its Kohawk student-athletes. Throughout the department programs reached new heights, setting team and individual records all while achieving excellence in and away from competition. As we turn our attention to the new opportunities ahead of us in 2023, we want to look back upon some of our favorite moments from 2022.

7) Kaalyn Petersen registers second 20-20 game in Coe women’s basketball history – Kaalyn Petersen records a 20-20 game for just the second time in Coe women’s basketball history. Petersen posted 29 points and a new single-game record 22 rebounds in Coe’s dramatic 91-86 double-overtime victory against Simpson earlier this season. She fell just five points shy of tying the single-game scoring record and was 12-of-23 from the floor.
8) Jaydyn Palmer & Hannah Pecharich Earn All-Conference for Women’s Track & Field – Coe women’s track and field earned its first all-conference honors since 2018 as Jaydyn Palmer and Hannah Pecharich picked up the awards at the Outdoor A-R-C Championships. Pecharich was the women’s team’s highest overall finisher, taking second place in the pole vault after falling to the eventual winner in a jump-off. Palmer earned her first-career all-conference honor for Coe, finishing in third place in the shot put after a toss of 13.0 meters.
9) Dominic Shepardson sets single-season reception record – Dominic Shepardson made headlines during his senior season for Coe football, setting a new single-season record for receptions with 79 total grabs. Shepardson racked up 857 receiving yards and hit paydirt eight times during the campaign. Dom was a driving force for Coe’s offense, registering at least six catches in eight games while eclipsing 10 catches three times.
10) Madison Schultz Earns Second-Straight A-R-C MVP honor – Madison Schultz continued her stellar career for the Kohawk women’s tennis team, earning her second-straight MVP honor this Fall. The Jasper, Georgia native was Coe’s top singles and doubles player. She finished the conference regular season with an 8-0 mark at number one doubles with Jania Carter-Johnson and 8-0 at number one singles.
