White Named Pac-12 Men's Basketball Freshman Of The Week

LOS ANGELES– USC guard Tre White was selected as the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week, it was announced today (Dec. 19).  It is White’s first weekly honor and he becomes the 10th Trojan all-time to earn selection as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, tied for the most by any school in the conference.

White averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, while helping lead USC to a pair of home wins to stretch it winning streak to a season-best five games.

The Dallas native scored a career-high 20 points on 9 of 14 shooting and grabbed five rebounds in the 88-78 win over Long Beach State on Dec. 14.  He also made a season-best two three-pointers.

White then scored seven points, had four rebounds and a key block with 38 seconds remaining in a 74-71 win over No. 19/No. 18 Auburn on Dec. 18.

In the week’s two games, White made 52.4 percent of his field goal attempts, including 60 percent from three-point range (3-for-5).

White has averaged 9.1 points and 5.2 rebounds through USC’s first 12 games, making nine starts.  He is fourth in scoring and third in rebounds among the Trojans.  

The last USC freshman to be named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week was Evan Mobely on March 8, 2021.
