Wildcats Head Downtown to Face UIC

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Wildcats will head downtown on Wednesday as they get ready to take on the UIC Flash at Credit Union 1 Arena. Tip off between the two teams is set for 7 p.m.

Northwestern (4-5, 0-1) enters the contest on a five-game winning streak against the Flash, dating back to 2007. Though the ‘Cats have struggled on the road so far this season, they’ve historically performed well against UIC (8-1, 0-0), going 21-6 against them since 1975.

Caileigh Walsh has been leading the charge for Northwestern on offense, and she’ll take a 12.9 points-per-game average into Wednesday’s game. Walsh has scored in double digits in four straight games and five of her last six, making her the leading scorer on the ‘Cats’ season so far.

On defense, Paige Mott has been stepping up in a big way after slotting into the starting rotation late last month. Mott is averaging 4.9 rebounds per game, which is over twice her 2.4 mark from last season. She collected her first career double-double on the road against Duke in the second of back-to-back ten-rebound games.

Wednesday’s game will be the final road contest of the 2023 calendar year as the ‘Cats prepare to wrap up their non-conference schedule. Northwestern will host Air Force on Saturday and Chicago State next Thursday before diving back into conference play after the holiday.
