Hogs fans would travel to Africa in support

Saturday’s game between Arkansas and Oklahoma may have been in the Sooner State against the Sooners. But it was clear even pre-game which team had the stronger showing in the fan base.

Arkansas used the home-court, neutral-court advantage to its strength in an 88-78 win over OU in a rematch of last year’s mid-December nonconference game, a Sooners win.

Ricky Council, who led all scorers with 26 points, grinned wide post-game when asked whether the support in the stands helped. He half-joked, even, that if the Razorbacks played in Africa, Razorbacks faithful would show out with a Hog Call in-person.

That support was clear even before Saturday. Arkansas had the loudest fan base in the Maui Invitational in November, too, as the Hogs finished third in that tournament. To the day, the semifinal loss to Creighton in Hawaii is Arkansas’ only loss.
