Ricky Council Named SEC Player of the Week

Ricky Council is turning into the star of the show for Arkansas basketball.

The SEC announced Monday that Council was the league’s best player for his performances against Troy and San Jose State, averaging 22.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals while shooting 70 percent from the field in the two wins.

“He’s had a phenomenal start to the season, without a question,” Razorbacks coach Eric Musselman said at his Monday’s press conference.

Council gave his best performance against Troy, scoring 27 points, 19 of which coming in the second half. Council led a 19-3 run by the Razorbacks, contributing 13 points during the run to end the game.

Against San Jose State he scored 17 points and secured three steals in the Razorbacks’ victory.

Council leads the SEC in scoring and is the only player on the Razorback roster to score in double figures all eight games.
