WBB Takes On No. 5 Indiana Thursday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The UNC women’s basketball team takes on its third consecutive ranked opponent and second top-five in a row on Thursday night when the Tar Heels travel to face No. 5 Indiana as part of ACC/Big Ten Challenge play. Tipoff is 6 p.m. at the Hoosiers’ Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, and the game will air live on the Big Ten Network.

Both teams are undefeated – No. 6 UNC at 6-0 and Indiana at 7-0 – heading into the matchup, which is just their third ever and first since 1988.

The Tar Heels moved up to sixth this week in both national polls after winning the Phil Knight Invitational Championship on Sunday in Portland, Ore. Carolina beat No. 18 Oregon on Thursday and then upset No. 5 Iowa State for the title. That game marked the first time since 2009 that UNC had beaten a top-10 team while itself ranked in the top 10. Four days later, the Tar Heels will attempt to do it again.
