Men Even Their Record with Win!

After two weeks of playing NSIC teams on the road the Saints returned to the friendly confines of the Strode Center. The Presentation College Saints even their overall record at 4-4 and improve their home record to 3-1 after beating the Trinity Bible College Lions 96-75 tonight.

The Lions came out and scored the first four points of the game. Isaiah Cabrera (JR/Newark, CA)’s three cut the deficit to one two minutes into the half. Both teams then went back and forth trading baskets for the next nine minutes of the game. The Lions went on a run of seven points over just a minute of game time and had a 28-21 lead half way thru the first half. Coach Trevor Flemmer called a time out to get the Saints refocused and it worked. Over the next two and a half minutes the Saints tied the score at 30. The last seven minutes of the half belonged to the Saints with hot shooting and good defense they took a 21 point lead at half.

The Lions did come out of the locker room and work to cut the lead down 13 points several times in the half. The Saints would not allow them to get any closer than that over the final twenty minutes. The 96 points mark the second highest offensive output of the season. Presentation College is averaging 85.5 points at home.

By the Numbers…

The Saints had four players in double digits for points.  DJ Bonds (SR/Jackson, TN) led the way with 22 points off of the bench. Jackson Becker (JR/Aberdeen, SD) and Jeremiah Gilyard (JR/Palatka, FL) both had 18 points. Travez Nyx (SR/Detroit, MI) had 12 points to round out the double digit scorers for the Satins. Becker had a team high eight rebounds. Isaiah Cabrera had a team high six assists. The Saints shot 52.1% from the field, 42.9% from behind the arch and 66.7% from the charity stripe.

Next Up…

Next up for the Saints is a trip to North Dakota and opening game of NSAA conference season with Mayville State University on Saturday at 5 PM. On Sunday the Saints travel to Morris Minn. to take on the University of Minnesota-Morris at 3 PM.
