SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Kailyn Gilbert has tabbed Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office on Monday. The laurels are the first of her career, and she is the second player in program history to be named Freshman of the Week.
Gilbert impressed at The Dana on Mission Bay Classic, recording double-digit scoring performances in both of Arizona’s matchups. The weekend was highlighted by her 25-point game against California Baptist, making her one of two freshman in the Pac-12 to record a 25+ point game this season. She is additionally just the fourth Wildcat freshman since at least 2009-10 to tally at least 25 points in a game.
Across the two games over the weekend, Gilbert averaged 4.5 rebounds and 17.5 points and went 9-of-13 from the field against California Baptist, making four three-pointers for the most in a single game by a Pac-12 freshman this season.
