Even some of the greatest players in the world have issues with confidence.
For Chicago Bulls All-Star DeMar DeRozan, he recently spoke on his loss of confidence during his time in San Antonio on “The Old Man & The Three” with JJ Redick and Tommy Alter.
“For three years, I doubted myself playing in San Antonio,” DeRozan said. “I questioned myself if I would ever be the player I felt like I was in Toronto.”
DeRozan was traded from Toronto to San Antonio in a package for Kawhi Leonard in July 2018, which helped propel the Raptors to win the 2019 championship. Though DeRozan is grateful for his time in San Antonio, he fought through a loss of confidence in his time in a Spurs uniform.
“Not to take away nothing from San Antonio. San Antonio and Pop taught me so much but the way everything just transitioned unexpectedly for me, I lose a sense of confidence that I carried,” DeRozan said. “I was fighting and searching for that for so long in San Antonio of ‘damn, am I going to be back to that?’
Now, DeRozan seems to be as confident as ever coming into his second season in Chicago, following a career-year last season.
