Sixers’ Tyrese Maxey viewed as a first time All-Star player in 2023

Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is currently the darling of his team at the moment and it’s easy to see why. The young man out of Kentucky is electric out on the floor and he has a maniacal work ethic that continues to push him forward.

Maxey had a huge sophomore season where he averaged 17.5 points and shot over 40% from deep. His ability to get to the basket and finish, knock down jumpers, and also be able to understand what it takes to get better is going to make him one of the top players in this league in due time.

CBS Sports put together a list of players who are primed to make their first All-Star appearances in the upcoming season and Maxey is on the list:

From his first to his second season, Maxey’s scoring jumped from eight to 17.5 points per game, and his assists doubled from two to 4.3. Most impressively, his 3-point shooting skyrocketed from 30 percent as a rookie to 42 percent last season. This improvement helped to solidify him as an excellent complement to All-Star center Joel Embiid, and his ability to play both on and off of the ball should greatly help his fit alongside Harden in Philadelphia’s backcourt moving forward. Maxey has an unrelenting work ethic, and if he continues to develop there will likely be several All-Star selections in his future.

Considering Maxey’s current career trajectory, this is an easy take. The guy just knows what to do and how to improve his game and he has the desire to get better every single day. That is going to serve him well as he moves forward with the Sixers and his NBA career.
