The Boston Celtics were dealt a tough blow on Friday when they received news that big offseason addition Danilo Gallinari officially has a torn ACL in his left knee. The veteran forward is now expected to miss a majority of the 2022-23 season considering the severity of the injury.
In the wake of the news, Gallinari released a statement on his Twitter account detailing how tough of a week this has been for him:
This has been a tough week for me as I have learned the extent of my injury. This game means evrythign to me and not being able to be on the court with my Celtics teammates hurts. I plan to give everything I can to the Celtics organization and my teammates as we hunt for a title. I will work tirelessly with the Celtics staff to return to the court as soon as I can and I appreciate the unwavering support from the fans, my teammates, and the entire NBA family.
Gallinari will miss a ton of time, but if he can return to the Celtics around March, that would be a huge win for both him and the franchise.
