WOMEN’S BASKETBALL INKS THREE FOR 2022-23 SEASON

INDIANAPOLIS – With the season right around the corner, head coach Kate Bruce adds three more to the 2022-23 women’s basketball roster. Transfers Genesis Parker and Jazmyn Turner join freshman Abby Wolterman on the Jaguar roster.
 
“We are really excited to add Abby, Genesis, and Jazmyn to our Jaguar family,” said coach Bruce. “They are extremely skilled players, great students, and most importantly, incredible people.”
 
Wolterman, the West Chester, Ohio native, joins the Jaguars for her freshman campaign. The 6’0″ forward comes to IUPUI after winning two high school state titles with Mount Notre Dame.
 
“Winning two Division I high school state titles in Ohio, Abby is a proven winner,” said Bruce. “She is the ultimate teammate and has shown she will play any role necessary to help her team be successful. Her size and versatility will fit in well with our style of play.”
 
Along with freshman Wolterman, head coach Bruce signed two transfers, Genesis Parker and Jazmyn Turner.
 
Parker spent the last three seasons with Butler but due to an injury sat out most of the 2021-22 season. Prior to Butler, the 5’8″ guard out of Bristow, Virginia spent the 2016-17 season with Virginia Tech and the 2017-18 season with the University of Cincinnati.
 
“Genesis brings great experience from her time playing in the Big East,” said Bruce. “She is a combo guard that has a knack for scoring the basketball. Genesis is a high energy player who plays both ends of the floor.”
 
Turner, a 6-2 forward out of Marion, Indiana is transferring from in state foe, Ball State where she spent the 2021-22 season. Before transferring to Ball State, Turner played for Wabash College where she was tabbed as the NJCAA Region XXIV and GRAC (Great Rivers Athletic Conference) Player of the Year and NJCAA Second Team All-American.  
 
“Jazmyn brings much needed depth at the forward position,” said Bruce. “Her ability to score inside and out makes her a tough matchup for opponents and a perfect fit for our offensive system.”
 
All three additions look to make an early impact this season for the Jags. The IUPUI women’s basketball team announced their conference schedule on Wednesday with their first Horizon League match-up coming on Dec. 3 against Green Bay at the Jungle.
