Despite being on the other side of California now, Malik Monk still holds a high level of confidence in his former team Los Angeles Lakers on making higher leaps for next season.

“They grown men,” Monk said on TMZ Sports. “Especially when they have convos like that, it’ll work out for them. They all great.”

The Lakers had a devastating 2021-2022 season upon compiling sky high expectations from the acquisition of 2017 NBA Most Valuable Player in Russell Westbrook. Injuries and chemistry issues have undeniably wrecked them in failing to even clinch a postseason seat.

But the upcoming campaign serves as fresh start for the franchise, with the new leadership behind Darvin Ham now set in calling shots.

This offseason meanwhile, Monk decided to depart and ink a two-year, $19MM deal with the Sacramento Kings.

But he understands that he won’t get that kind of offer and turn his career around if he didn’t join LeBron James and the Lakeshow last season.

Amid the disappointing conclusion collectively, Monk still produced his best season yet with the Lakers, averaging 13.8 points, 3.4 boards and 2.9 dimes in 76 games.

“LeBron had a big part of everything,” Monk said about James’ impact in him. “He had a big part in me coming to L.A.”

“It’s Bron, bro. He gon’ try to help every teammate he comes in contact with. So, I have nothing bad to say about him.”

Monk is now part of a Sacramento team that is obsessed on ending the longest playoff drought in league history. As such, his spark plug offense will be relied on by his new squad.
