Philadelphia 76ers 2021-22 season in review: Isaiah Joe

The 2021-22 season was supposed to be a bit of a breakout for young Philadelphia 76ers guard Isaiah Joe. After an encouraging rookie season followed by a solid showing in the summer league, Joe was expected to take the next step forward.

He played extremely well in the preseason as Joe shot a sizzling 61.5% from deep over the course of four games to head into the regular season. He was then granted a spot in the rotation to see if he can keep that momentum going, but he wasn’t able to and it was an overall learning experience for him.

With that being said, Joe had some solid moments here and there that he can build on for the future.

Joe’s 2021-22 season averages

3.6 points

1.0 rebound

0.6 assists

35% field goal percentage

33.3% 3-point field goal percentage

93.5% free-throw percentage

Season highlights

Joe was in the rotation on opening night as he played over 12 minutes that night and he averaged 8.2 minutes over his first six games of the season. However, he shot only 27.3% from deep in those games and he didn’t do much of anything else to really earn any more time on the floor. At that point, he had to watch from the bench and continue to pick the brain of other veterans.

He did score 18 points in a win over the Houston Rockets on Jan. 3 before scoring 10 points against that same Rockets team a week later. Those are some performances that he can take and try and build on for his future.

Joe in the playoffs

As one could expect, Joe did not get much burn in the playoffs. He totaled 15 minutes across the seven games he did get to play in and he shot 2-for-5 from the floor and 1-for-3 from deep. The playoff run was more of a learning experience for him than anything.
