Celtics worked out 2022 NBA draft prospect Gabe Brown

According to the New York Times’ Adam Zagoria, the Boston Celtics worked out Michigan State’s Gabe Brown on Tuesday, with Brown also having worked out with or being scheduled to work out with the Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, and Charlotte Hornets.

The 6-foot-7 forward played four seasons with the Spartans and has shown flashes of potential as a shooter with a career 37.9% outside shot at Michigan and an 89.6% rate from the charity stripe. A solid rebounder for his position at 3.8 per game last season, Brown is a low-usage swingman who might develop into a solid rotation player if available at the No. 53 pick of the 2022 NBA draft, the sole selection the Celtics have this summer after dealing away their first to pick up reserve guard Derrick White.

The co-captain of the Spartans this season, Brown signed with Parlay Sports’ Steve Haney for representation, the latter of whom was quoted by the Detroit Free Press’ Chris Solari as saying they have “had conversations with over 20 NBA teams” who see his client as “a priority for a predraft workout.”
