Shaquille O’Neal jokingly linked Jay Wright to the Lakers after the 60-year-old for Villanova coach announced his retirement.

But coaching in the NBA is not something that he would be interested in, according to an anonymous source. Wright got his experience at coaching NBA players during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics where he served as an assistant coach to Gregg Popovich.

It was enough for him to realize that he could not do that for a full season. “He got his taste with the Olympics and said he could never, ever coach those guys for 82 games,” the sources is quoted saying by Matt Norlander.

It would be genuinely surprising to ever see Jay Wright even consider going into the NBA at this stage of his life, a source said. They added, “He got his taste with the Olympics and said he could never, ever coach those guys for 82 games.”
