COLLEGE PARK, MD —  Maryland women’s basketball head coach Brenda Frese officially welcomed All-AAC transfer Elisa Pinzan (Murano, Italy) to the program Wednesday.

Pinzan, a 5-8 guard, comes to College Park after playing four seasons at USF. Pinzan played four seasons for the Bulls, where she averaged 8.0 points, 4.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds as she started in 93 of 112 games. She was named the AAC’s Most Improved Player in 2021 and earned All-AAC Second Team honors that season as well. In 2020, she was named to the Third Team.

Frese on Pinzan: “When we talked, Elisa told me she wants to play the game the right way. There’s nothing a coach loves to hear more. As I watched her, what consistently jumped out at me was her terrific assist to turnover ratio. She makes intelligent decisions on the court. She wants to help her teammates be successful. She can hit shots. I think she will bring maturity and leadership to our team. We look forward to sharing the experience with her and her family.”

Pinzan on Maryland: “I felt like Maryland was a place that I could continue to grow as a person and as a player. Their success is well-known and the connection I had with the coaches was amazing! I can feel the family environment and I can’t wait to get to work!”

Pinzan was No. 22 in the country in assists (5.3) this past season and carried an assist/turnver ratio of 2.26. She posted a season-high 26 points in a matchup vs. Oregon on Nov. 22 and dished 10 or more assists four times on the year. Pinzan helped the Bulls to the NCAA Tournament and to a win over Stanford in November.

Prior to coming to USF, Pinzan played with the Italian club team ReyerVenezia SPA, in the top league in Italy. She played in the U18 European Championships and U19 World Cup in the summer of 2017 for the Italian National Team. In the European…
