BOSTON — You could envision a scenario where the Boston Celtics medical staff presented Robert Williams with two options: have the torn meniscus in his left knee fully repaired in an operation that would require months of rehab, or have his meniscus trimmed with a 4-6 week recovery timeline that could allow him to join the team for a potential second-round playoff series.
According to Ime Udoka, that’s not how things went down.
The Celtics head coach explained Wednesday that the location of Williams’ tear — which he suffered Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves — made trimming Williams’ meniscus the most viable option, and that it was the doctors’ call, not Williams’, to choose the more minor procedure.
